7 New Bloggers have joined Jordan Planet recently (and a big welcome to them). Though they got me thinking.
When I joined Jordan Planet I was number 15 or 17. This was of February 2005. 8 months ago.
When I wrote the feautre on Jordan Planet in the August issue of JO Magazine, there were 28 […]

There’s something I never understood about Ramadan in Jordan. Originally Ramadan is supposed to be one month of the year completly devoted to the worship of God. Now it’s also one month of the year when all the night clubs and bars close (out of respect?). I don’t understand this, I really don’t. For some […]

AMMAN — Jordan’s press yesterday blasted a Spanish court’s decision to jail for seven years the Madrid correspondent of Doha-based Al Jazeera satellite channel. The verdict was designed to “quell free Arab media” that sought to divulge US crimes in the region, the Jordanian critics said. “The unjust verdict passed (Monday) by a Spanish court […]

1970:
Arab leaders sign Jordan peace deal
King Hussein of Jordan and the leader of the Palestine Liberation Organisation,Yasser Arafat, have agreed a ceasefire after 10 days of bitter civil war in Jordan.
The agreement, signed at an emergency summit in Egypt’s capital, Cairo, calls for an immediate ceasefire and withdrawal of all forces from every city […]

I’m not a fan of rap music simply because I think most of it sucks. I don’t comprehend music where every song is basically about sex, prostitutes and, well, sex.
Though when “The Score” came out almost a decade ago I fell in love with The Fugees. Not only do their lyrics mean something but they […]

Jordan has overtaken Palestine as the most competitive Arab cellular market, followed closely by Palestine and Algeria. Saudi Arabia’s cellular market moved from 12th place in 2004 to the 6th place in 2005 as the Kingdom successfully and impressively introduced competition in its cellular market. The results are based on Arab Advisors’ objective annual Cellular […]

I watched two films today: Broken Flowers and Flight Plan. One is a Bill-Murray-Lost-in-Translation type and the other is a Jodi-Foster-Panic-Room-Type. Ironically both those actors are in these very movies.

Broken Flowers is one of those low budget indie flicks you see at festivals. Bill Murray plays an over the hill man stuck in nuetral. […]

Israeli and Palestinian hopefuls have been taking part in a beauty pageant meant to bridge the Middle East divide.
It is the second year the Miss Seamline contest has taken place, but the first time with Palestinian contestants. All eight last year dropped out after receiving death threats from militant organisations.

I’ve launched my own radio on the sidebar by using radio.blog, a pretty neat application. Anytime I talk about a song it will probably be up there to listen to. Anything on the playlist is probably what I’m listening to that week.
To Check Out:
Institute is Gavin Rossdale’s, former Bush* frontman, new rock band. […]

Goo Goo Days

20Sep05

I just downloaded this song (legally) and it sort of conjured up a symphony of exisetential thoughts. First, in a wave of music that is about sex, drugs, pimps and what have you, it’s kind of nice to see a song that actually means something. One of my all time favorite bands, the Goo Goo […]

My Aqaba Trip

16Sep05

I can’t believe a week has gone by already since I left Aqaba. Feels like yesterday. I hadn’t seen it for about 3 years and truth be told I had no idea it was Aqaba until I saw two things: a Jordanian flag and a picture of His Majesty’s family. It has changed so much. […]

Unpack, Unfurl

14Sep05

So this is the new site but same ol’blog and same ol’blogger. I kind of like the look of it but the address is the nice part (i think). I’ll tweak as I go along and leave the old blog for sentimental value. So here we go.
