Yes it is, yes it is.
I’ve posted about religious topics once or twice on my blog before. Mostly because I feel a lot of people misunderstand it, both Muslims and Non-Muslims. I’m not hoping to change the world, but the least I can do as a duty for my own religion is talk about things […]

â??Plans for a Pentagon-led experiment that involves detonating 700 tons of explosives in the desert drew criticism from state leaders and a disarmament activist.
The explosion scheduled for June 2 at the Nevada Test Site is part of an effort to design a weapon that can penetrate solid rock formations in which a country might store […]

There’s something fishy in Garden’s Street these days. This article in today’s Jordan Times made me laugh. I think most agree that when it comes to food, the ingenuity Jordanians have is boundless.
â??As sales of chicken shawerma dropped in the capital following the detection of avian flu in Ajloun, one Amman restaurant is serving fish […]

So news of Jill Carrolls release is now official and spreading. I’m very thankful to God, as many are, that she has been released and can be with her family once again. Many thoughts are floating through my mind though. Primarily why the group all of a sudden decided to release her. Obviously it was […]

The Daily Show’s Demetri Martin explores the latest trend of “Life Coaching” and whether you might need one according to the L.O.S.E.R. formula

Another example of cleric-al errors done in the name of Islam, Indian Islamic scholars/clerics/village elders (aka village idiots) have said that a man who said the word “talaq” (divorce) three times in his sleep should split from his wife and is considered divorced after 11 years. They found out apparently after his wife told her […]

For the second time this week (and the fifth in the last 4 months) a Lower House session was cancelled due to “a lack of quorum”
Of 110 members only 70 showed up at 10am this Wednesday and waited for 30 minutes and the 3 more deputies they needed to constitutionally hold a session (two thirds) […]

This was a very interesting article that I read today on illegal workers from India and Nepal who are facing some difficult situations in Jordan. Basically these workers pay large sums of money to Indian recruiters in order to be illegally trafficked into Jordan. Upon coming to Amman they are housed in terrible conditions waiting […]

I have to admit that I really hesitated before writing this post but I felt like venting or ranting about this topic and I guess I’ll take my chances with what comments may follow. Keep in mind that I am not a scholar but you don’t need a certificate to learn and educate yourself in […]

A lot of “reporters” (comedians) are coming and going now on the Daily Show with Jon Stewart. Demetri Martin is a comic who has a very unique standup act that I’ve seen for a few years now on the late show circut. Apparently he’s part of the show now doing “trendspotting”. In this piece Demetri […]

Baghdad Burning has been longlisted for Samuel Johnson Prize for non-fiction among 19 books in contention. It makes you wonder about the essential role blogs have now played in documenting history through a first hand account. Especially in the Middle East where freedom of speech is limited.

By the time you finish reading all of this a baby in Egypt will have been born. That’s right. According to the census Egypt’s population now stands at 73.6 million with a baby born every 23.4 seconds. Since 2000 the population has been increasing at the rate of 1.3 million a year.
Does this indicate poor […]

Someone should collect the transcripts of all these meetings and make a book out of them, of course they’ll be jailed but they would be doing a great service to the world and to history. I don’t know of anything that has been as valuable to history (or revealing) since the McMahon-Hussein documents (correspondence). But […]

Of all the places in the world to become a ghetto. Meanwhile: draw up your own borders and let the Palestinians just sort of, discover it on their own.
