This is such a cool idea and so simple too. I think I saw something like this in the movie Minority Report.
The eStarling frame is a standalone Wi-Fi LCD photo frame that connects to a wireless network and automatically displays photos e-mailed to it in a slideshow format. Imagine having this thing display your latest Flikr photos or emailing them directly from your mobile phone. And hey, if you have an old useless laptop you can build you’re own.

Actually, a bunch of similar ideas have been floating around. I have a colleague at work who’s proudly displaying his 19″ frame in his office window, it connects through wifi to a share and gets images and displays them in a slide show. I guess what I’m trying to say is, next year, is already here
