or is questioning the very thought of full financial disclosure for the monarchy come under the 'Insulting Jordan as a nation, people, identity, culture and monarchy is also something I consider personally offensive and is not allowed on my blog' -rule????

non-blogging, the monarchy is entrenched in the identity of the modern kingdom of Jordan, so if you don't like my commenting policy then feel free to take your opinions elsewhere; it's not a complicated process. thanks.

I donâ??t know who should reveal their assets more: elected officials or political appointees. Should we be concerned more about the officials we vote for or the ones we donâ??t? Iâ??m leaning more towards the latter but technically theyâ??re both in the same boat. In my opinion anyone holding a seat, office or high profile position in the public sector should be subject to financial disclosure. I do believe it is a good policy for accountability and fighting corruption. It is effective even at the lowest level of operation.

Nas, I'm very interested in how this scutiny is actually conducted - is it a more or less voluntary declaration of assets by the person involved or scrutiny conducted by on outsider body? More or less, I do indeed share your thoughts. Political appointess can be kicked out far more easily than neutral officials!

In my country, it's still more or less the former with no real punishment for not doing it or doing it in an unhonest way. Disgusting to say the least,

And what about the royal family, heads of state who were never elected to their status by anybody except for being born to the right parents. Yes, I'm a staunch anti-monarchist myself...

... Ah yeah, Insulting Jordan as a nation, people, identity, culture and monarchy is also something I consider personally offensive and is not allowed on my blog, that's your comment policy which you of course have all the right to as the blog hostess ;-).
