I was reading an article in the Jordan Times today that states several traffic jammed areas in Amman are getting a new parking system where the driver can reserve a parking spot by sending an SMS (text message) in advance. You dial *147# (or send an SMS to 94488) with your license number and your vehicle type and you get an SMS confirmation for a reply. Apparently the system has already been implemented in the Um Utheina main street, receiving 100 SMS’s daily, with me none the wiser. Rabia seems to be next on the list.
It’s actually an interesting way to utilize technology to solve some major traffic problems in these key areas.
