so there was a debate or some shit and someone asked if obama was a muslim,,,,so someone answered “No, he comes from a good family and is a decent man”….haha so i guess muslims arnt decent ppl?wtffff

I admit it, I kind of choked up when Colin Powell started talking about that seven-year old Muslim kid, living in America, wanting to be President one day.

To me, this is what America SHOULD be about.

The ugliness of the last few months has been unbelievable. A reporter was actually beaten up at a McCain-Palin rally in my home state. So to see Colin Powell really take everyone to task over this has been good.

Of course, I’ve got some jerk on my blog telling me that “Powell only did it because both he and Obama are black.”

I guess the same rule doesn’t apply to white people who endorse other whites.

Having to feel apologetic for one’s faith is never a good place to be. As a Muslim convert I’ve been in positions to discriminate against Christians. What a horrid place to be in, and I refuse to do it. It all boils down to acceptance and inclusion of EVERYONE, not tolerance. Tolerance, to me, is derogatory. Include me in the fold, no matter what my socio-economic or religious background, but do not brag that you ‘tolerate’ me. (Sarah Palin, et al)

While I, too, lost confidence in C. Powell during the first Bush term, I do think he is a man of fair judgment and can discern that the Republican party has gone to the dogs. I do admire him for this support of Obama.

they are sooooo beyond us in terms of thinking and human rights,

its their right , its their country, they don’t want a Muslim to lead, its their choice, but they say its not what America is based on !!!! really felt something when i saw this video

imagine if a non Muslim runs for elections in our countries “except Lebanon” , hell will break loose and all the Muslim radicals will jump with anger, that’s not faith or peaceful thinking, that’s barbaric.

I’m afraid we would not do much better on that moral scale. Picture what would happen if a Christian Prime Minister was appointed ? or for example a PM whose father is from another country (perhaps Iraq).

I lost any respect I had for Colin the day he read that fake WMD presentation at the UN.

To be fair I think the fault here is more with Obama than it is with McCain. When Obama repeatedly clarified his faith in response to these accusations that’s also an opportunity for him to say “and what if I am muslim?”. He could have assured that Islam is a totally acceptable faith. He’s never done that and in my eyes his reaction to the whole ordeal is giving credibility to the islamophobes.

Mr.Powell, I wouldn’t get on McCain for not asking “so what if he’s Muslim” if it’s Obama that’s repeatedly had the opportunity to do so.

I also posted about this. I find Powell’s views quite impressive and extremely moderate! Yes, Obama isn’t Muslim, but what if he is?
Simply, there are Muslim Americans who have and will serve this country faithfully! simply, they deserve their full rights just like any other American
